Pedometers
The basics
Pedometers are available in two styles:
- Basic step counters (the least expensive)
- Advanced models. The advanced models have extra features such as measuring distance in miles as well as steps, or calculating caloric expenditures.
Stride length is measured and then programmed into these pedometers.
Some pedometers come with a safety leash to prevent the pedometer from falling off when worn. Some vendors charge extra for leashes.

Model SD-01 is a good, durable pedometer with a front cover and auto sensors that filter out "false steps" such as tapping or moving your leg. It comes with an extra battery. The regular price of this pedometer is $14.50 and does not include the safety leash ($3.50). The pedometer is available to WEA Trust school districts at a discounted price of $7.65, including the safety leash. Shipping is free for orders over $100; for orders under $100, shipping starts at $3.49.
