Health Assessment
You play an important role in motivating your coworkers to participate in programs that help them take control of their health such as the WEA Trust Health Assessment Program. This secure and confidential health assessment helps members and eligible spouses identify their health risks, prioritize health goals, and receive assistance from health advisors, if eligible.
For each Fall 2007 health assessment completed in your district, your district is eligible to apply for staff wellness grant dollars to help facilitate worksite wellness activities. The grant amount is $5.00 per completed health assessment for the 2008-2009 school year based on the Fall 2007 health assessment.
Top three health risks
One great way to start your wellness efforts or to make the most of your staff wellness grant monies is to address the top three health risks for your district based upon the group aggregate information from the WEA Trust health assessment. Health risks for your district are ranked as a group according to potential medical costs and amount of health care associated with each health risk. Therefore, a health risk which is rated number one in your district has the greatest potential for higher medical costs and a greater amount of health care services.
To improve the health and moderate the costs of your district, programming efforts should focus on these risks. For the WEA Trust Staff Wellness Grant Program, you will be required to address two out of your district's top three health risks. This ensures that you are helping your coworkers moderate health care costs while helping them address health risks that can affect their quality of life.
