Trust programs and resources
A staff member would like to help a spouse quit smoking. Are there any resources available at the Trust?
If your staff member's spouse has the Trust health plan as his or her primary insurance, the spouse is eligible to participate in the Trust's "Quit Smoking Your Way" program. Participants can choose a web-based program, telephone counseling, or a mailing of educational materials. The program also includes a 3-month supply of cessation medication. To enroll in the program, call (800) 546-9049. More information».
For helpful tips on how to support someone who wants to quit smoking, see the "Key Messages on How to Help Someone Quit Tobacco Use" handout in your Staff Wellness Liaison Binder.
Wellness program implementation
How can I get more staff to participate in our district's wellness activities?
When staff contribute their ideas about a wellness program, chances are they will be more likely to participate. You can assess what your staff would like to see for wellness activities by using the Employee Interest Survey. Incentives are another important method to increase participation. Weekly or monthly drawings for those individuals or teams who have met their health goal can increase motivation to participate. Staff wellness grant money can be used to purchase incentives for defined wellness programs or activities.
